Red Elm Console Table From Shanxi - 19th Century Necklaces Print size: 22This antique Chinese console table comes from Shanxi province in Northern China and was made during the Qing dynasty (1644 1912AD). It is constructed from southern elm (jumu), also known as zelkova or red elm which has distinctly more intricate wood grain in comparison to northern Chinese elm. As well as a functional table, it also would have doubled as a desk. The narrow depth makes it perfect for a hallway or smaller room. It has beautifully
